Sire: Rebel Ridge Willie Wonka Do It***. Willie is a young, athletic and good looking chocolate son of FC AFC High Tech CEO (Gates) out of Waterstrike's Zoomerang Zoe MH. Gates is now retired at the age of 13. He was an extremely successful field trial champion, with 132 all-age points, and came ot of one of the most successful litters in field trial history: the breeding of 2xNAFC 2xCNAFC FC Ebonstyar Lean Mac out of NAFC FC Hattie McBunn, which produced six field trial champions. Willie was on the national derby list with 14 derby points. At the age of four, he is currently running field trials at the Qualifying level where he has a number of placements and ribbons, including a first place win at the LRC trial on August 14, making him "Qualified All Age".

Dam: Truenorth Shady Sadie Sadie is 60 pounds of pure muscle, energy, and personality. In the house, she is quiet and neat. She prefers sleeping in my bed or lying on top of the back of the sofa where she can look out the window. Tummy rubs are heaven and she occasionally likes to climb into my lap for a snuggle. She’ll nuzzle, but never licks your face. Outside she likes to play and her favorite game is retrieving. She never heard a gun or retrieved a real bird until she was almost three. Two weeks later she was retrieving pheasants and ducks at 100+ yards and looked excitedly for birds whenever she heard a gun. Four months later she was retrieving moderately complex, 100+ yard doubles with solid marking and great style whether on land or water. Sadie has earned her AKC Junior Hunter (JH) title. Her life is more relaxed now as I have focused more of my energies on some of my younger copetitive prospects. However, Sadie remains my favorite among my pups and always get first choice on the bed.

Pups from this litter should be capable of performing well in hunt tests. They should also make outstanding hunting dogs and companions around the house. They are unlikely to be suitable for families that will not provide them with basic training and lots of exercise (something I would say about all well bred Labs). Pups are covered by a 28 month guarantee against genetic problems of hips, elbows or eyes as well as a general guarantee that they are in good health at the time of delivery. They are guaranteed not to be affected by genetic disorders known as Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) or Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM). Pups will receive early neurological stmulation. They will have dew claws removed, be vet examined and have initial shots, and be well socialized with children, adults, and other animals. They will be exposed to birds, water, gun fire, crates, travel in vehicles, and leashes and collars. A $300 deposit is required to reserve a pup. Puppy pictures to the left are from Sadie's first litter in 2007. Photos of pups from the current litter will be posted regularly below following the photos of Willie.

All pups from this litter have been sold.

*** 7 Weeks ***

All pups have now gone to their new homes, leaving surprising space and quiet behind until the next set of puppies comes along again.

*** 6 Weeks ***

Six weeks old, and the pups have been completely off Mom's milk for 3 1/2 days. All the pups have been linked to their families and all are doing beautifully. When they go outside, they now fly off the steps -- although the results, as shown below, are sometimes not quite perfect. They stick close by my feet as I walk around the yard. I'm not sure it it is affection, or part of a conspiracy to break my neck. They are good about letting me sleep through the night, but their morning greeting is brighter than the sun. It's hard to believe that they will be going home in less than a week. Tomorrow it is back down to Winslow, NJ for a little more run around and water time. I am still trying to figure out the logistics of caring for them when I take Misty to run her field trial this weekend. I included pictures of every pup, although CF1 seems to have squirmed her way into more than her share of shots -- what a little heart throb she has become.

*** 5 Weeks ***

A very busy week for the pups. They are continuing to get weaned from Mom, who is reluctant to give up on her feeding duties. After some visits from new owners, the pups got to have their first trip down to Blue Springs Kennel in Winslow, NJ, where my dogs and I do most of our training. In addition to the ride in the truck box, the pups got their first chance to really swim. Everyone went in the water, and most got their feet off the bottom for at least a few swimming stroke. A couiple also tried out their diving skills to see the fish more closely, but they decided that it was generally better to keep their heads above water. Last night, the Vet came over to examine the pups, give vaccinations, deworm the pups, and insert microchips. All the pups passed with flying colors and will be ready to start going to their new homes beginning September 13. Weights for the pups range from 4 pounds for the smallest (CF1) to 8 pounds for the biggest (YM7). These weights are not necessarily good predictors for final weights of the pups when they grow up, although it is likely that CF1 will be slightly smaller than average for the litter (maybe 50-55 pounds) and CM7 may end up being slightly larger than average (maybe 75-85 pounds).

*** 4 Weeks ***

My apologies for the delay since last posting pictures. The pups have grown massively. Their eyes are open, they are walking around and beginning to play, they are eating blended puppy food more and more and less and less of mommy, and they are now beginning to go outside. Here are a few pictures from this morning. I will try to add more shortly.

*** Day 15 ***

The first pups are beginning to open their eyes and to walk. Here are pictures of a few of the girls...

On a sad note, one of the smallest pups, number four, a male, did not make it. Sometimes puppies fail to thrive. Hand feeding can help get the pup through a difficult period while its body has time to grow stronger. Some of the greatest dogs in history have been those that had development issues when they were young. The fighting spirit that pulls them through helps them be winners for the rest of their lives. For number 4, time ran out. Sleep peacefully little man.

CF2 CF2 - Hey, I'm the fattest pup here!!!

***Day 10***

The pups are still in their slug stage: eating, sleeping, and trying to make sure that they are all near the warmth of each other or mom. It's hard to believe how much they have grown. They still look so tiny and helpless. Over the next week they will begin to walk and soon after that they will start opening their eyes. But today, they are still living in the dark waiting for their bodies to grow. Move your mouse over the pictures to see which pup is which. Poor little number 9 got left out of the lineup when the photographer got confused...Next time guy.

***Introducing the Chocolate Kisses - Day 3***

All the pups received their first vet check today. Their dew claws were removed and everything else checked out well. The pups are still very young, so I do not travel far from the whelping box for very long. Sadie stays close to her instincts and buries the pups in shredded newspaper every time she leaves the box. That can make it a challenge to make sure they all receive the nursing time they need since one might be buried off in a corner where I don't notice. At this age they cannot regulate their own temperatures and can become chilled even in a warm room. Pups are shown in the order of birth. If you move the mouse over the image, you will see the pup's gender and birth number. Thus CM4 is chocolate male number 4.
